OUIL603 - Mad Max poster

It's been a while since I made a poster for the film society, but I think this is definitely my favourite of the lot. I wanted to try mixing a realistic style with crazy texture and colour, I think it worked really well, especially by drawing the character first rather than jumping straight into photoshop.

I spent quite a while drawing this furiosa, making sure that I copied the details as closely as I could to the real image. It was quite difficult to draw because I didn't have an exact reference image to work from for that pose, so I had to piece together other bits of reference.

I used her face from this image, and think that I got the look of it pretty spot on, I wasn't exact with replicating it but I got across the emotion through the face.

I used this photo as reference for her arms, especially with all the intricate detail in her mechanical arm, which I didn't end up fully drawing because it was waaay too complicated, so I covered it with the text, so I mainly used the image for costume reference.

I used a bright yellow to contrast the pink and to add highlights and depth to the background image.
I wanted furiosa to be the main focus of the poster, because she's basically the main character and I really wanted to do some detailed realistic portrait stuff. I loved drawing all the detail and spending time getting all the proportions right, I feel like I don't usually have time to do realistic looking work because it takes me so long, but I right enjoyed doing this.
