Summer 10 Brief Part 2

Summer 10 final work

Having gone with my beard idea I decided I wanted to display a series of different interesting images illustrating a different type of beard. After some experimenting using different media like marker pens and ink, I decided to use cut out paper instead of drawn lines, this was because using bold and simple shaped for the beards was the most effective way of putting across my ideas. To add a bit of texture to the paper I used a dry brush effect on the grey, I wanted to keep the colour scheme simple and use only one or two colours. At first I wanted to include an ornate border in my work, however after speaking to a few people I decided that over complicating it would take away the focus from the actual beard images.

Playing around with layout I discovered that I would have quite a lot of unused space left at the bottom of the page, which my ornate border would have filled. However after I had finished cutting out and arranging all the beards, I did not have time to come up with a design to fill the space. If I had time to do this brief again I would have planned all aspects of the work better, not just the actual beards themselves.
Over all I was pleased with my final outcome and I think my colour choices helped to put across the bold and simple feel that I wanted to create. Although the cutting out was quite intricate and time consuming it is a method I would like to use again during other briefs, however I will manage my time better in order to finish all aspects of the work.
