Young Minds is a charity which aims to help improve the emotional wellbeing and mental health of young people and children. Young people's mental health is often demonised by society, people are discouraged from discussing their issues which can often lead to self harm and suicide.
Young Minds key priorities are:
- Inspire excellence in children and young people’s services.
- Improve Self-Harm Responses.
- Increase the influence of the Voice of Young People and their Families.
- Advance our understanding of how the Internet and Social Media can be a positive tool for building emotional resilience.
Young Minds run a free parents helpline run by a team of specialists to support parents and carers who are worried about a childs mental health. They also provide training and resources to people who work with children and run specialised projects, one of which is YoungMinds in Schools which aims to help educational professionals understand the link between emotional wellbeing and learning. I think this is the perfect charity for me to contact and to show my educational pack to, as they already provide informational packs for young children, but I'm sure I could make a nicer looking one.
Sarah Brennan is the chief executive of Young Minds, I found her on Linkedin and intend on emailing her, maybe asking for some advice, but mainly to show her my mental health book/pack and propose that they use it, or commission me to make a new one.
